Seth Shiv Narain Birla lays the foundation of the Group.
1939
Established Orient Paper (OPIL) in Brajrajnagar, Odisha.
1946
Founded National Engineering Industries (formerly National Bearing Co.), pioneering bearings manufacturing.
1950
Acquired Orient Fans (formerly Calcutta Electrical Manufacturing Company), marking the Group's entry into fan manufacturing.
1956
Acquired HIL (formerly Hyderabad Industries).
1965
Commenced production at Orient Paper’s Amlai facility in Madhya Pradesh.
1967
Acquired GMMCO (formerly Blackwood Hodge Equipment).
1972
Entered the earth-moving equipment space in collaboration with Caterpillar.
1982
Ventured into cement manufacturing.
1988
Listed HIL on the stock exchange.
1995
Entered the IT services sector with the establishment of Birlasoft.
Listed Orient Paper on the stock exchange.
1997
Expanded HIL’s portfolio to include pipes, Aerocon panels, and eco-friendly building materials.
2004
Incorporated Neosym (formerly Indian Smelting & Manufacturing Ltd) as part of the Group.
2005
Established AVTEC Ltd as a separate entity.
2011
Entered the electrical appliances sector.
2012
Demerger of Orient Cement from OPIL and listed on the stock exchange.
2013
AVTEC acquired ASSAG.
2014
Birlasoft acquired Salesforce.com partner EnablePath.
2017
Founded CK Birla Healthcare.
2018
HIL acquired Parador.
2019
Birlasoft acquired KPIT and was listed on the stock exchange.
2020
NEI acquired Kinex in Europe.
2021
Entered the fertility and IVF sector through Birla Fertility & IVF.
2022
HIL acquired FastBuild and SEC Block business.
2024
HIL acquired Crestia Polytech and its subsidiaries.
Birla Fertility & IVF acquired ARMC and BabyScience IVF, expanding its footprint in the IVF sector.
